How do I install and activate Secure Exchanges on Gmail?
This article guides you step by step to install the Secure Exchanges extension on Gmail and activate your licence to secure your email and file exchanges. The installation is done directly in your browser, and the activation ends with a confirmation received by email. Follow this procedure before your first secure send from Gmail, or when you need to reactivate Secure Exchanges on a new device.
Prerequisites
- An active Secure Exchanges account, obtained through a free trial or by purchasing a licence: Start a free 30-day trial with Secure Exchanges or How do I buy my first license?
- The Chrome or Edge browser, since the installation is done directly through the browser.
- Access to the Gmail mailbox that will receive the activation email.
Step 1: Install the Secure Exchanges extension
- Visit the official Secure Exchanges website: Cybersecurity technology - Secure Exchanges
- Download the Secure Exchanges extension for Gmail.

- Microsoft Edge: by clicking on the dedicated pin symbol.
- Google Chrome: by clicking on the dedicated pin symbol.
Step 2: Activate your Secure Exchanges licence
- Open Gmail in your browser.
- The Secure Exchanges extension appears in the extensions area, at the top right of the browser window.
- Click on the Secure Exchanges extension.
- Complete the captcha to confirm you are not a robot.
- Click on "Activate my license".
Step 3: Confirm activation by email
An activation email is automatically sent to your Gmail address.
- Open the message.
- Click "Yes" to confirm activation.
Result: your Secure Exchanges licence is now active. You can now send, receive and secure your data exchanges directly from Gmail, with end-to-end encryption.
Troubleshooting
