Some files do not need to be secured and can be sent like any ordinary Gmail message. To send non-confidential attachments on Gmail without Secure Exchanges, you must disable Secure Exchanges before adding the attachments. The procedure takes three steps, from disabling to sending.

Prerequisites

• The Secure Exchanges extension is installed in your browser and your licence is activated. See How do I install and activate Secure Exchanges on Gmail?
• Gmail is open in your browser.

Step 1: Disable Secure Exchanges

To do this, press on the shield with the green hook.

Step 2: Confirm that Secure Exchanges is disabled

The icon will change to a red "X", which confirms that Secure Exchanges is disabled.

Step 3: Add and send your attachments

You can now add your attachments and send them without Secure Exchanges.

Troubleshooting

• The shield icon does not appear in Gmail: the extension may not be installed, or your licence may not be activated. Go back to How do I install and activate Secure Exchanges on Gmail?
• Your attachments did not go out: see My attachments failed to send via Gmail
