How can I recover a secure email that has expired from Gmail?
A secure email that has expired can be recovered from Gmail through your Secure Exchanges logs. The steps below show you how to send the recovery request and receive the emails concerned.
Prerequisites
- The Secure Exchanges extension must be installed and activated in Gmail. See How do I install and activate Secure Exchanges on Gmail?.
- You must have a SESAR licence to use this feature.
- Your mobile number must be correctly entered on your Secure Exchanges account so that you can receive the retrieved emails. To check it, see What account management options are available from the online portal?.
Étape 1 : Ouvrir vos journaux depuis l'extension

Step 3: Select the emails to retrieve
Select the emails you wish to retrieve, then click the "Retrieve messages" button.
Step 4: Receive the retrieved emails
A message confirming that your recovery request has been successfully sent appears on your screen. You then receive two emails in Gmail: the first contains the email you asked to recover and the second contains the recovery report. The recovered email therefore reaches you directly in Gmail, together with its recovery report.
Troubleshooting
- The Secure Exchanges icon does not appear in your browser's extensions: install and activate the extension again by following How do I install and activate Secure Exchanges on Gmail?.
- You do not receive the retrieved emails in Gmail: check that your mobile number is correctly entered on your account, as explained in What account management options are available from the online portal?.
