How do I delete a message sent via Secure Exchanges in Gmail?
You have just sent an email via Secure Exchanges and you want to delete it before your recipient reads it: you have two options. This article describes both ways of deleting a message that has already been sent, either from your logs in Gmail or from the online portal. They are offered as alternatives: follow the one that matches the tool you have at hand.
Prerequisites
- The Secure Exchanges extension must be installed in your browser and your licence activated. If needed, see How do I install and activate Secure Exchanges on Gmail?
- For method 2, you must be able to access your account on the online portal. If needed, see Log in to the Secure Exchanges online portal
Method 1: Delete the message from your logs in Gmail
In your logs, click the trash can associated with the email you wish to delete. To find out how to open them, see How do I access my journals from Gmail?
Method 2: Delete the message from the online portal
You can also delete the message from the online portal. If needed, see Log in to the Secure Exchanges online portal
- Log in to your account on the Secure Exchanges website, then go to the "My Account" section.
- At the bottom of the page, search your logs for the message you wish to delete.
- Click the trash can to delete the message.
Troubleshooting
- The Secure Exchanges extension button does not appear in Gmail, or your licence is not activated: go back to How do I install and activate Secure Exchanges on Gmail?
- You cannot find the logs window in Gmail: it opens from the Secure Exchanges extension button, as explained in How do I access my journals from Gmail?
- You do not receive the portal access email, or you get an access validation error: see Log in to the Secure Exchanges online portal
