Microsoft error during installation or update of Secure Exchanges
Microsoft Office may display an error message when installing or updating the Secure Exchange Connector in Outlook. In most cases, this problem is caused by a corrupted local cache used by Microsoft for installed applications.
This error originates from Microsoft Office (ClickOnce) and not from Secure Exchanges.
Before following the procedure below, ensure that Microsoft Outlook is completely closed.
1. Close Outlook
Completely close Outlook and make sure it is no longer open in the taskbar.
2. Open the Run window
Press the Windows + R keys simultaneously.
3. Access the Microsoft cache folder
Copy and paste the following path into the window that appears, then click OK :
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0
4. Delete the contents of the folder
- Select all the folders present
- Right-click, then click Delete

This step clears the Microsoft ClickOnce cache , which is often responsible for this type of error during updates or a new installation.
5. Reopen Outlook
- Restart Outlook normally.
- The Secure Exchanges connector should now install or update correctly.
