How to configure DKIM?

To properly configure and manage DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) in the Secure Exchanges online portal, it's essential to follow precise steps to ensure the security and authenticity of sent emails. Here is a detailed guide.

DKIM Configuration Procedure

1. Domain Management Access:
  1. Log into the Secure Exchanges online portal.
  2. Navigate to "Domain Management".
2. SPF Configuration Verification:
  1. Before activating the SPF (Sender Policy Framework), configure the DKIM.
3. Creating DKIM Selector:
  1. Click the following icon to generate a new selector. The complete procedure will also be available here.

  1. The selector is a unique key that you will need to enter into your DNS settings.
4. DNS Configuration:
  1. Add the DKIM selector as a key and the DKIM record as a value in your domain's DNS records.
5. Activating DKIM:
  1. Once the DNS is updated, validate and activate the DKIM selector in the portal.

  1. This step is crucial for the DKIM to be operational.
6. DKIM Key Rotation:
  1. To increase security, consider rotating the DKIM key after a period. To do this, you will need to click on the icon that represents activated DKIM (in green).
  1. Here, you can click on "Create a new rotation selector" and follow the same steps as before.

7. Deactivating DKIM:
  1. If necessary, you can deactivate DKIM by clicking on the "Deactivate DKIM" button. The SPF (Sender Policy Framework) must be deactivated beforehand.

  1. This action is reversible, and you can reactivate DKIM at any time.

Important Tips:

  1. Domain Validation: Ensure that domain validation is complete before proceeding with DKIM activation.
  2. DNS Propagation Delay: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate. Ensure all configurations are correct before considering the process complete.
  3. DKIM Key Management: Regular management and rotation of DKIM keys are recommended to maintain optimal security.
This detailed procedure will help you configure and manage DKIM for your domain via Secure Exchanges, thereby increasing the security of your email communications.
