Collection project: upload your documents | Secure Exchanges

How do I upload documents to a collection project?

You have received a Secure Exchanges drop link. This page lets you send the documents you are being asked for, without having to create an account. Your files are encrypted in your browser before they even leave your device, and nobody but the recipient can open them. This article covers every step, from confirming your identity to the send confirmation.

Prerequisites

  • You must have the project's drop link.
  • Your email address must be on the project's access list. Without that, no code will be sent to you.
  • You must have access to the inbox of that address.

Step 1: Confirm your identity

  1. Open the drop link. The page displays "Secure document drop", the project name and its description.
  2. Under "Confirm your identity", enter in the "Email address" field the address the request was sent to.
  3. Let the "Security check" finish.
  4. Click "Send me a code".

Step 2: Enter your access code

  1. Open your inbox and find the one-time code.
  2. Enter it in the "Access code" field.
  3. Click "Unlock the drop".
Note: The code stays valid for 15 minutes. After that, start again at step 1.
Note: The "Use another address" link takes you back to the previous step.
Warning: If your address is not on the project's access list, no code is sent. Contact the person who gave you the link.

Step 3: Upload the requested documents

  1. Find each requested document. Its card shows the title, the description, the accepted file types and, where applicable, the "Mandatory" marker.
  2. Click "Add your file", or drag the file into the area provided.
  3. Repeat for each requested document.
Note: The maximum total size is 3 GB per drop.
Note: To remove a file added by mistake, click the "X" next to its name.

Step 4: Add a note and send

  1. If needed, write a comment in the "Add a note" section.
  2. Click "Send my documents".
  3. Wait for the "All done" message. You can then close the page.
Note: The "Add a note" section appears only if the project allows it.
Note: Your files are encrypted in your browser before they leave your device. Nobody else can open them, not even Secure Exchanges.
Warning: The send button stays inactive until every mandatory document has been uploaded.

After sending

You receive a confirmation email stating that your documents have been encrypted and sent, along with the number of documents transmitted. On their side, the recipient receives a protected Secure Exchanges message containing your attachments.

Troubleshooting

  • You do not receive a code: check your junk mail, then confirm with the recipient that your address is indeed on the project's access list.
  • Your code is refused: it has most likely expired. Request a new one and use it within 15 minutes.
  • The send button stays inactive: a document marked mandatory has not been uploaded yet.
  • Your file is refused: check the accepted file types shown under the name of the requested document.
  • Your drop is too large: the maximum total size is 3 GB per drop. Spread your files over several drops if the project allows it.
  • You run out of time to finish: the project sets a number of hours to complete a started drop. Ask the recipient to increase that value.
